UPDATE: Zamil Limon And Nahida Bristy Missing In Tampa, FL – One Student Found On Tampa Bay Bridge, Roommate Charged As Search Continues

UPDATE: Zamil Limon And Nahida Bristy Missing

Two doctoral students from the University of South Florida, Zamil Limon and Nahida Bristy, both 27, were first reported missing on April 16 after a sudden and uncharacteristic loss of contact. Days later, the situation has taken a sharp and troubling turn. Authorities now confirm that Limon has been located deceased on the Howard Franklin Bridge over Tampa Bay, while Bristy remains unaccounted for. A roommate connected to the case has been taken into custody, facing charges that include domestic violence and unlawfully moving a body.

Limon, a doctoral student in geography, environmental science, and policy, was last seen at his residence in a student apartment complex. Roughly an hour later, Bristy, a chemical engineering doctoral student, was last seen at a campus science building. After that, both went silent. A family friend eventually contacted authorities when neither could be reached, triggering the initial missing persons investigation led by the University of South Florida Police Department. What began as a concerning disappearance quickly escalated once inconsistencies in communication and movement started to surface.

An internal message shared within the university captured the early confusion: “The last time Zamil’s co-advisors, labmates… or family had contact with him was Wednesday night… there is some indirect evidence of Zamil’s and Bristy’s activities up until around noon Thursday.” That gap, small on paper, turned out to be everything. It marked the point where routine stopped and uncertainty took over. Faculty and students were asked to report even missed messages or skipped meetings, essentially piecing together a timeline from absence rather than presence.

Authorities have identified Limon’s remains, but key details, including the exact cause and full sequence of events, are still under investigation. Meanwhile, the search for Nahida Bristy continues, now under far more serious circumstances. What started as a missing persons case has evolved into an active criminal investigation with one confirmed victim and another still unaccounted for. For families, classmates, and investigators, this isn’t just about what happened anymore. It’s about finding the rest of the truth and, critically, finding Bristy.
